I don't know exactly what fly-fishing teaches us, but I think it's something we need to know.

LICENSES AND PERMITS

From January 1st 2007, the system of Fishing Licences has changed. You need a VISpas (Fishing pass) or Kleine VISpas (small Fishing pass) which form the licence, plus a List of Fishing Waters or Small List of Fishing Waters that forms the permit. Both VISpasses have the size of a credit card.

The VISpas allows you to fish in all waters stated in the accompanying booklet entitled Lists of Fishing Waters (Lijsten van Viswateren).

The VISpas and accompanying List can usually be obtained from angling clubs, boat rental operations, Tourist Information Offices (abbreviated as VVV in Dutch) and fishing tackle shops. They are almost always included in the membership of an angling club. You receive a VISpas and a List when you become a member.

Small Fishing Pass (KleineVISpas)
Those anglers who are not a member of an angling club, can purchase a KleineVISpas (Small Fishing Pass). The Kleine VISpas will enable you to fish in a limited number of waters stated in the accompanying Small List of Fishing Waters (Kleine Lijst van Viswateren) with one rod and a limited number of bait types. Together with the Kleine Lijst van Viswateren. In 2007, the price of a Kleine VISpas plus Small List is € 9.50 (about £ 6 ).

Read everything about the VISpas licence on the Vispas website.
