The bookshelf

Fishing Season by Rodger McPhail.
ISBN 1-85310-145-1
A book with wonderful paintings. Not just of fish, but of all kinds of things a flyfisherman can encounter. A fine book for by the fireside at a cold winter evening.
The pursuit of Wild Trout, by Mike Weaver.
ISBN 1-873674-00-7
Although this is a kind of "how to" book, it is very pleasant to read. Apart from descriptions of techniques, flypatterns and rivers, it contains a good deal of stories.
Dances with Trout, by John Gierach
ISBN 1-85487-287-7
John Gierach has a down to earth look to all kinds of things. He describes this in a humorous manner. He is author of several books, like:
Trout Bum, ISBN 1-85487-178-1
Sex, Death and Fly-fishing, ISBN 1-85487-298-2
Another Lousy Day In Paradise, ISBN 0-684-83147-3
There are more, but I haven't read all of them yet

Chalkstream Chronicle, door Neil Patterson

The dream of many flyfishermen: to live near a chalkstream. Neil Patterson made sharp observations of life at the river. His views are laid down in a refreshing and innovative way. A great book!

A series of memories from Yorkshire schooldays in the early 1930s, through memorable outings on loch and chalkstream.
